• Y.'s newest interest is dolls. I thought it was the wonder of the little pacifier that went in and out, but when she got to playgroup, she launched directly at the doll on the floor.
• cloudy winter mornings can be brighter than summer. Coming out, the light refracted through the clouds was cool, lucent, and blinding, shining off the puddles and walls, without the dusty film of summer. 
• The dramatic pattern of shadow on the blinding white of the early morning stone

• the scattering of dew on the weeds growing above the walls lining the sidewalks

My students all paint facing in different directions a triangle on opposite sides.
