  • In the early morning light, the two coffee cups cast long towers onto the golden-brown table.

  • The quomquat tree, hidden behind the wall, and between two dead trees, is split between light and shadow. The dangling fruit shift from yellow-orange to dull gold.


  • A heavy woman sprawls tierdly on the bench, talking on the phone. The light hitting her dark hair picks up on the leaves and berries of the autumn tree abover her.

  • The flowers outside the flower shop glow pink, red, yellow orange in the bright winter sun, Above, a deep maroon-pink sign. Below, the red and white parking stripes complete the compisition.

  • The backlit drama of the apples by the window,  flooded with light on all side. Their pink-red and yellow pick up the color of the distant red wall outisde, till the whole room seems suffesed in a warm red-orange glow. Sometimes I set up a still-life for my students, and become so seduced by it, all I want to do is draw...
