  • the almost psychedelic yellow-orange of the cut mango against the contrasting aqua plastic bowl

  • In the faded gray light, the towels hang from the laundry line, a chromatic scale of white running to pale pastel

  • The glaring sun hits the cups and silverware, creating a complex shadow play on the pale table.

  • Sitting outside the cafe, have the surreal experience of looking in at the dinners. The window cuts off their heads, drawing attention to the mirroring interaction of the two women's hands, the bright light falling on a velvet mustard sweater

  • Through the window, the bright yellow squares of the sugar packets  on the table lead my eye into the room. Teh woman seated by the window has an answering bright yellow square on her sweater. In the back, the waitress’ distant hand, wiping the table with a yellow cloth.

  • The sky, dead tree, and byuildings are reflected eerily on the dark glass of the cafe windows, overlapping with and obscurin the diners.

  • The light is glaring off the table, interspersed with the shadows of the leaves.

  • The sun hits the side of the glass, casting two small halos on the dark table

  • A wine-red blowsy poppy, so open it is as round and large as a sunflower
  • The concentric circles of dishes in the sink: two blue bowls, a bright yellow cup. a darker blue handle peeks out from the dirty water. In the back, and answering dark blue plastic cover.
